Who We Are ... What We Teach ... Why We Train
Grapevine Martial Arts Academy teaches the Youn Wha Ryu System of Tae Kwon Do/Karate, created by Grand Master Man H. Han. The academy was founded in 1990 by Masters Jean and Scott Good in Grapevine, Tx.
The school is unique in many ways. Its family-oriented, club-like atmosphere is enhanced by the amply-padded training floors and separate men's and women's dressing rooms with adult-only showers and towel service. The combined focus on Adult and Children's training brings with it a diversity of instructors, and high testing standards. The Goods are dedicated to improving the lives of their students through training in the Martial Arts, with emphasis on respect, discipline, integrity, perseverance, dignity and compassion. Classes are offered 6 days a week.
Master Jean Y. Good (6th degree Black Belt) and Master Scott T. Good (5th degree Black Belt) were students of Grandmaster Han for 19 years. They are co-owners and head instructors of Grapevine Martial Arts in Grapevine, TX.
Since leaving their corporate jobs, the Goods have brought the Grapevine school from a small gathering of students in the basement of a corporate fitness facility to its current location with Adult and Children's classes. They take pride in maintaining a club-like atmosphere with two mirrored classrooms, 2" padded, carpeted floors, extensive training equipment, dressing rooms with showers and the benefit of multiple instructors.
Grandmaster Man Hee Han (9th degree Black Belt) is the founder of the Youn Wha Ryu System of martial arts. It is based in traditional Tae Kwon Do, incorporating elements of Hapkido, Karate, Kung Fu and Judo.
Grandmaster Han was originally trained in the traditional Japanese Martial Arts of Karate, Judo and Hapkido, and the Chinese Arts of Kung Fu and T’ai Chi Chuan before being involved in the post-occupation formulation of Korean Tae Kwon Do. He also holds advanced degrees in Kendo, Hapkido, Jidokwan, and Hwarang-do.

T’ai Chi is an exercise of the body, of the mind
and of the spirit. It is about self-cultivation.
Some people call T’ai Chi a relaxation exercise
and to others, it is a martial art. Still others
view it simply as a health maintenance system
or as a method of “moving-meditation”. In fact,
T’ai Chi is all these things and more.
With T’ai Chi nothing is overlooked, all the ingredients of life being of equal importance. What one eats, how one exercises and the way one acts are as important as what one thinks and believes.
To be sensitive, open, spirited, poised and in tune with Nature are qualities that would benefit anyone.
These are the goals of T’ai Chi.
